The SSSTS Course is recognised by BUILDUK as it meets the mandatory standard for all supervisors working on BUILDUK sites.
Upon Completion of the SSSTS Course, the candidate will receive a certificate valid for 5 years.
The CITB Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is divided into several units including the core units below:
- The Health and Safety at Work Act
- Specific site issues that challenge supervisors on a daily basis
- Effective toolbox talks
- Supervision of occupational health
- Behavioural safety
All candidates will provided with the Site Supervision GE706 and Toolbox Talks publications.
Mandatory entry requirements
To be able to read, write and understand English to a good level. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area.
If you need to re-sit the test, you must do this within 90 days of the original course date at an additional charge
You will need to provide a valid ID on the first day of the course, such as a copy of your passport or driving licence.
Our SSSTS course tutors are qualified and experienced health and safety professionals, with extensive experience in Construction and Risk Management.
All SRP Trainers hold numerous health and safety qualifications such as the NEBOSH General Certificate, and the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety which is well above the required industry standard to ensure that the delivery of the course is to the highest standard.
This course is highly interactive and will be taught with case studies, group work and presentations. Candidates will also need to do some self-study outside of the course.
The examination for the SSSTS course will be a multiple choice exam at the end. Successful candidates will be provided with a course completion letter and certificates will be issued by CITB within 4 weeks).
If you are unsuccessful, there is a possibility to be eligible for another exam on the day provided you reach above 71% but under 80% (pass mark). This resit is free of charge. If the candidate achieves less than 71%, the full course must be undertaken again.
The SSSTS course Certificate is valid for 5 years and after this, candidates can undertake a 1 day refresher course to maintain the certificate for a further 5 years.
Candidates approaching the end of the 5 years can opt to upgrade to a SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification which can allow them to progress onto working as a SITE Manager.
The CITB grants are available for companies who are registered for Grant And Levy scheme. For the SSSTS Course, subject to CITB approval, you may be able to claim back £70.
The process for the grant is straight forward. The candidate must provide the Company Name, Registered address and CITB Levy number. These details will be collected on the first day of the course on the delegate notification form.
Once received, CITB will then process the claim as per their procedure. SRP Training is not responsible for the actual claim and as such once the details have been provided, the company must contact CITB for any updates or queries.
SRP Training can also provide companies with SSSTS Training at their venue. A trainer can be sent to the company address and deliver the course if there are a minimum of 6 candidates. Please contact the office for this service.
Is this course accredited?
Yes, it is accredited by the CITB which stands for the Construction Industry Training Board for short.
Are there any prerequisites for the Course?
There are no prerequisites for the course, but all delegates are expected to already have a valid CSCS card.
What are the hours of the course?
The hours are 9am to 5pm for both weekend and weekday courses approximately.
