NVQ FOR BLUE CPCS ‘COMPETENT OPERATOR’ CARDS

A Plant NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) is a qualification which, upon completion, shows that you are competent in plant machinery. The exact type of plant machinery can vary depending on which course you choose, ranging from forklift trucks to excavators.

The Plant Operations NVQs are Level 2 qualifications and are recognised in the construction industry at a national level. They are designed to prove that you have gained the necessary skills to operate the machinery in question. There are a number of other benefits to completing a Plant Operations NVQ, namely that you’ll receive a Blue CPCS Card.

What does a Plant NVQ entail?

When you enrol in a Plant Operations NVQ, you will be paired with an assessor, who will carry out your initial induction. Your assessor will then help you to work on your portfolio, and together you will draw up the ways through which you’re going to be completing each of the units.

As you’re completing the qualification, your assessor will be keeping track of your progress by requesting your answers to specific written questions, carrying out professional discussions, generating evidence via the workplace, witness testimonials, and by simply observing.

Our BLUE CPCS COMPETENT OPERATOR (NVQ 2 Plant Operations) assessors are qualified and experienced Health and Safety professionals with extensive Construction Plant operations experience.

All Assessors at EM Construction Training hold numerous Health and Safety qualifications such as the NEBOSH, CPCS, CSCS, PGCE etc., all of which are well above the required industry standard to ensure that the delivery of the course is to the highest standard.

The assessor will appraise the learner through a variety of ways on-site; this could include written questions, professional discussions, evidence generated from the workplace, observations, and witness testimonials.

The qualification course structure incorporates a selection of mandatory units.

Units 1 & 2 are mandatory, further units will need to be chosen dependant on the machine/job role etc.

For more information about the unit structure, contact our team on 020 3150 1299.

What is Required to Pass the NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations course?

Delegates will need to complete all of their required units to show that they are competent enough for the qualification.

EM Construction Training can also provide companies with NVQ Plant operations assessments at their venue. An assessor can be dispatched to the company’s prefered site.

An NVQ is a lifetime qualification.

Once the five-year Blue Competent Operator CPCS card is up for renewal, all you will need to do is to pass a CPCS Renewal test (CPCS RT) and to hold a CSCS test that’s not older than 2 years. We are accredited to deliver both the CPCS RT and CSCS tests.

EM Construction Training can also provide companies with NVQ Plant operations assessments at their venue. An assessor can be dispatched to the company’s prefered site.

Is this course accredited?

Yes, it is accredited by several awarding bodies.

Are there any prerequisites for the Course?

There are no prerequisites for the course, but all delegates are expected to already have a valid CSCS test and a place of employment so that we can assess them whilst they perform their duties.

What is the duration of the course?

The NVQ assessment is dependent on how quickly a candidate submits their evidence of competence to the assessor; typically, it can be anywhere from 8 weeks to 12 months.

Can I come in and see you face to face as that would give me peace of mind?

Yes, absolutely! We encourage our customers to have a face-to-face discussion with us regarding their unique training needs.

Knowing that you are dealing with people who have your progress at heart shall certainly put your mind at ease. To us, advice and guidance is a public good! We do not charge a penny for it!

It will also give you the opportunity to meet some staff members or even your assessor, if they are not delivering training at the time of your visit.
